Las Vegas — Neon, Silhouettes, and a Skyline Like No Other

Las Vegas is, to put it mildly, unlike any other city I draw. It is neon, sequins, fountains, and a skyline that changes every few years as the latest resort goes up or another one reinvents itself. But there is a version of Vegas beyond the Strip that I also find really interesting — Fremont Street with its vintage signage, the older downtown, the mountains ringing the valley. Good Vegas art captures both versions.

What makes drawing Vegas genuinely fun is how much visual energy the city gives you to work with. The Bellagio fountains, the Stratosphere, the Sphere, the pyramid, the Eiffel replica, the Venetian’s campanile — these silhouettes are instantly recognisable, and they translate to art in ways that other cities’ buildings simply do not. I lean into vibrant colour schemes for Vegas, but it also works beautifully in black-and-white for a more grown-up feel.
