Boston — Where Cobblestones Meet Glass Towers

Boston is one of those rare American cities that feels like it exists in layers of time. One moment you are walking on cobblestones in Beacon Hill that have been there for two centuries, and the next you are looking at the glass towers of the Seaport. The whole city somehow holds both — red brick and reflective steel, Paul Revere’s church and the Hancock Place — without either feeling out of place. Drawing Boston means trying to let both of those sides sit on the same page.

What I love most about the Boston skyline is the harbour frame. The Custom House, the Prudential, the ICA, all set against the blue — it is a composition that works beautifully in soft pastel palettes and equally well in a crisp black-and-white. The collection also leans into Boston’s quieter icons: the Swan Boats in the Public Garden, the Zakim Bridge, the Charles River curving along behind the city.
