Detroit — Soul, Resilience, and a Skyline with Real Character

Detroit is a city that rewards people who pay attention. The surface story — cars, Motown, grit — is only the beginning. I wanted the Detroit collection to feel like that: proud, layered, and a little bit unexpected.

What makes Detroit genuinely fun to draw is the skyline itself. The Renaissance Center, the Guardian and Penobscot buildings, the view across the river to Windsor — it is a skyline with real personality, and it looks especially strong in bolder colour schemes and watercolour styles. I also love working in Detroit’s industrial edges: the old factories, the Ambassador Bridge, and the way the Detroit River grounds the whole city.
